Strengthening Students’ Wellbeing

A U.S. Department of Health & Human Services study found that between 2016 and 2020, the number of children (ages 3-17) diagnosed with anxiety grew by 29% and those diagnosed with depression grew by 27%. Students of all ages report being stressed, overwhelmed, and unable to cope with school.

EduGuide helps students build wellbeing habits that consistently lead to more positive life decisions. As one administrator described it, EduGuide gives her students an “extra dose of happiness and connection” when they are feeling isolated and vulnerable.

7 ways EduGuide boosts wellbeing

  1. EduGuide provides trauma activities, proactive health habits, and prevention interventions that have been shown to speed recovery for both students and staff.
  2. 8-in-10 students consistently report being happier, managing stress better, or feeling more self-motivated within one year of using EduGuide.
  3. Students consistently report that EduGuide’s weekly reflections help them manage their emotions and lower anxiety.
  4. EduGuide’s weekly mentoring challenges teach students the social skills to identify and access support for themselves or a friend. These mentoring challenges also give them weekly opportunities to use those skills to help others.
  5. EduGuide enables staff and students to see how their own struggles can be a source of strength in learning how to help others.
  6. EduGuide builds positive habits like sleep, breathing, and smart nature breaks to guide students away from negative coping mechanisms.
  7. EduGuide students learn mindfulness habits to slow down, reflect, and listen to their bodies.

A place to share feelings

In addition to teaching skills that foster resilience and build positive habits, EduGuide’s reflective writing gives students a place to share their thoughts and feelings in a safe space. Here’s what some students had to say:

“This is helpful because this is another way i can write out what i am feeling and how i can make myself feel better.”

“I used to be worried about the future so much that it was suffocating, but now I can focus on what I need to do.”

“EduGuide helps me get back on track if I’m ever feeling a bit down.”

“I feel like no matter what I say or even how cheesy it gets, there is someone there to listen and talk to me about it. I end up feeling better and not as trapped.”
