EduGuide students build the 4Cs of career readiness skills (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity) each week as they tackle new EduGuide challenges. Students who grow in coaching their peers are also growing to lead and manage their future coworkers.
Here’s how CTE programs use EduGuide’s unique online mentoring platform to build habits of success:
- To increase employability skills. Employers across industry sectors consistently list the success skills taught by EduGuide as the most in-demand skills for hiring and promotion. Even in STEM careers, studies show that job growth and wage increases have been largest for employees with strong social skills.
- To improve self-management skills. Students who manage themselves well are more successful in CTE courses and careers. On assessments, EduGuide students are more self-motivated, come to class better prepared, participate more, complete more homework, and come to class on time more often than they would have otherwise.
- To improve teamwork skills in class and on the job. Both students and staff report EduGuide has helped them improve their relationships in the classroom and beyond. The relationship skills they learn with EduGuide serve them well in their careers improving both social awareness and collaboration.
- To improve management skills. Each week students choose a challenge to mentor a peer in the success skill they are learning. Over time, they practice and build empathy, coaching, and leadership skills that prepare them for future management opportunities.
- To provide career mentoring. Many groups choose to add mentors from industry partners as part of their EduGuide program. It provides a practical way to build connections and coaching to help students transition to employment.
