How can I prepare my daughter for the transition back to school?

In summertime everything relaxes, including meal times, bedtime, free time. How do I gently transition our daughter back to school, with all the schedules and time restrictions?

Question applies to ages: 8

It depends on her age. When my daughters were little, we gradually moved bedtime back and got up earlier in the morning. Getting enough sleep and resetting your internal clock is half the battle.

Now that they're in high school, they do this on their own (although "bedtime" is a relative term with teens...), knowing that they can't stay up late and be well-rested for school. (Is it too much to hope this practice will extend into college?)
