I wanted to be the person who had the right answer and I didn’t care whether it was cool. You don’t worry about what anybody else says about you. You don’t worry about that teacher who you think is not treating you fairly or what your friends are saying. All that matters is where you are and where you want to be. ~First Lady Michelle Obama

avatarAnonymous it completely depends on the breed and all medical conditions. If you're interested in a particular breed type it into google and click on the result with the website "dogbreedinfo.com" or the AKC results. They're very reliable and can tell you a lot about the breed you like.

Typically, the larger the dog, the shorter their expected lifespan. Most small breeds often live to be 13, 14, 15, or 16 but larger dogs, such as a Golden or Lab, usually only live to be about 10, 11, or 12 but all dogs, like people, will naturally have more health problems as they age. Every "purebred" has inherited tendencies for various health problems. That's why I think mixed breeds are a better bet for fewer health problems. If you're thinking of adopting a dog, remember it's a life-long commitment - you can't just dump it because it's sick, so you need to make sure you can afford to take care of it properly for its entire life.
