When shopping for a school that addresses children's multiple intelligences, or learning types, look for a variety of learning centers that point to differentiated classroom instruction. Your learning styles inventory should turn up, for example:

  • A center that includes audio equipment for listening to stories or recording one's own stories.
  • A center with art supplies to illustrate and write about something students have researched.
  • A center filled with words and writing activities.
  • A quiet corner where journal writing allows children to reflect upon and write about meaningful things.
