Books can open many doors and hours of imagination, wonder, and awe for our children. Creating books together with your kids is one of those fun family activities that encourages a lifelong love of reading and learning.
What You Will Need
- 26 Ziploc bags—sandwich size or large ones
- Construction paper or white paper the same size as the bags
- Stapler
Let’s Go!
Place a piece of paper between each bag. Stack all the bags and paper together and staple together at the bottom of the bags. Next label each bag with a letter of the alphabet. Then have your child draw or cut out pictures or find small objects whose names begin with each letter. Place the objects in the correct bags. For example, a toy frog would go in the "f" bag.
Cuddle with your child and have her tell you what she put into each bag. You could also have her write the name of each object on the back or front of the picture. Don’t worry about spelling for now. And don’t be surprised if this becomes one of their most popular children's books to carry around and read with any willing adult!
