Have you ever noticed how much mischief a bored preschooler can get into? It can be hard to think of new family home activities for preschoolers every day. Why not take a common activity and give it an uncommon twist? For example, let your preschooler create a really big drawing. Instead of drawing paper, try using a large sheet of wrapping paper, a paper grocery bag cut open, or a couple of sheets of newspaper taped together. Then, create some large art.

Games for Preschoolers

What you need

  • Large sheets of paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Firm surface (The floor will work.)
  • Time with your child

Family Ideas for Artwork

Tape the paper to the floor so it doesn't move around. Show your child how to make marks on the paper with the crayon or marker in large, sweeping movements or long, long lines. You might also try tracing or drawing something life-size, such as a real toy or your child's body. Supervise him so that he keeps the colors on the paper as much as possible. When he's finished, help him to print his name on it and display it proudly.
