Parent involvement in school can improve grades. Start the year off right by asking your child's teacher these eight essential questions at your first conference or, better yet, via email on the first day of school.
Doing so will set the standard for strong parent-teacher communication, clue you in to different teaching styles and possibly head off any school issues. Be sure to stay involved all year!
1. What will the class be studying and learning this year?
2. What will my child's daily schedule be like?
3. How much and what kinds of homework will my child have?
4. What can I do to support my child's learning at home?
5. How can I help at school?
6. What's the best way for me to communicate with you?
7. What information can I share with you to help you better understand my child?
8. What tutoring or other help is available if needed?
