How can a college student stay organized and get everything done? Here are the strategies that work best for me and that I'd recommend to others:
- Plan ahead. When you get course outlines at the beginning of the year, the first thing you should do is get out your agenda and mark down due dates for major essays presentations and exams.
- Make lists. Each week, note down assignments and readings that need to be completed. Beside each task, put the estimated number of hours required for completion and the date you need to have it done by. Then prioritize the tasks according to level of importance.
- Avoid clutter and distractions. A clean workspace that is free of distractions (TV, for example) improves concentration and productivity.
- Develop a schedule. Try to get in the habit of studying, going to bed, exercising and enjoying personal activities at particular times.
