This is a tough question. I think the child is fortunate to have someone like you who is trying so hard to help him.

I know I would certainly find it worrisome if a 4-year-old was using foul language and threatening violence in such an extreme fashion. Is it possible to work with the parents or guardians in this situation and bring them in as partners? This way the child could get consistent messages at home and at school about respectful ways to treat others and to be treated.

Does your school/preschool have a counseling system? Is there somewhere that the child could go to receive individualized attention from a mental health professional?
