How Much Do You Know about Saving Money for College?
Did you skip a question?
Please answer the question(s) marked in red.
1) Have you started saving for your child’s college education?
Of course. I’ve been putting money in a tax-free college savings plan since she was three.
Sort of. When I get bonuses or gift money or tax refunds, I try to put them away for college.
Not really. I’m hoping my child will be brilliant, or an athlete, or maybe a brilliant athlete, and get a free ride to college.
2) Have you and your child completed the FAFSA?
Yes. I finished my taxes as soon after January 1 as I could so we could meet the FAFSA filing deadline for our state.
No, because I don’t think we’ll qualify for financial aid, so why bother?
What is the FAFSA?
3) Do you know where to find scholarship information?
Yes, I’ve bookmarked several free scholarship search websites and check them frequently for scholarships that might fit my child.
Not really. I thought that the high school guidance counselor was supposed to give students information about scholarships.
Scholarships? My kid? I guess I can dream, can’t I?
