April 2009: Keep Your Kids Safe…at Any Age!

As parents, if we aren’t physically keeping our kids from harm, we are up late at night worrying about possible dangers that could befall them. EduGuide understands the need to keep children safe and secure. Please read on to find some great tips and helpful ideas to keep your little (or not so little) ones as safe as possible – second only to covering them with bubble wrap!

Birth to Preschool: At this age, when children will drop anything, put anything in their mouths, or feed anything to the dog, it is good to have some safe toys that can withstand whatever your little angel can dish out.

Elementary School: Now that your children are old enough to begin venturing out on their own, is when you begin to panic the mostespecially when you can’t be following them around 24/7. Learn what to look for when finding the safest playgrounds. If your child’s recess playground doesn’t measure up, be sure to contact the school.

Middle School: So often today we see stories in the news about violence in schools. How can you help reassure yourself and your child that school is a safe place to be? How can you keep fear of school from permeating your child’s life?

High School: Internet safety is a concern for parents, yet teens are turned loose online for hours at a time. Teens have rules for everything else, why should internet use be any different? Make sure you keep your teenagers safe on the computer.

College: What is more frightening than knowing your baby is away from home and expected to take of himself? But do you really want him relying on you for every little thing? This article will show him how to take care of things for himself and give you a little peace of mind.

We’ll see you next month for the May edition of the Parents’ Newsletter when we’ll be talking about summer camps and other activities to keep your kids happy and occupied this summer.
