June 2009: Summer Lovin'

Summer Lovin'

The weather is warming, the flowers are blooming. Love is all around, enveloping us like the sunshine. That’s why this month the Parents’ Newsletter will be talking about relationships.

For Everyone: Maybe your child is a little too happy to see the school year end. If he had a poor relationship with his teacher this year, we have some suggestions for creating a better one next time. When student-teacher relationships are strong, everyone wins. Here are some tips on what you can do to keep things running smoothly between your child and his teacher.

Birth to Preschool: Here is some sound advice to help set you on the right path toward a nurturing relationship with your child. These tips also help with encouraging your child’s growth and development.

Elementary School: Kids today are being exposed to sexual information and other material inappropriate for their maturity level. The even scarier thing is that some will act on what they see. Find out how to keep your child safe.

Middle School: The older your child gets, the more opportunity there will be to initiate a conversation about sex. Learn how to spot those situations and even when to create them. Sometimes just starting the conversation is harder than the talk itself.

High School: Just because you know that you should talk to your teen about sex doesn’t mean that you will. Wondering what to say or how to act? Let us help you.

College: As your child prepares to head off to college either this year or next, check out our new Help Your Child Plan a College Visit EduGuide. Our ShortCut on helping your child get the most from a college tour will really benefit her, especially if she is concerned about fitting in to campus life.
