Where can find a copy of the Michigan Scool Attendance Law?

My to girls, 5 and 9, missed about 5 days of school due to the flu. I received a letter signed by the principal stating that MI education laws states when a child misses 5 or more days excused or unexcused, parent must be contacted and efforts made to correct issue. The letter was given to the child at school. The 9 year old was embarrassed to receive it in front of others. They asked her what the letter was about.

Question applies to ages: 6, 9

avatarAnonymous Wow, it's bad enough to get the flu and then have to make up all that schoolwork, but to be embarrassed in front of her classmates on top of it! Sounds like a dumb way for the school to save on postage...

Here's a link to the Michigan Compulsory School Attendance policy: www.michigan.gov/som/0,1607,7-192-29939_32382_32449---CI,00.html

Hope this helps!
