When sould I start planning for a college?

I'm not sure when to start, but I've been told by some people that I should have started back in 6th - 7th grade, but I just started this year as a freshman. I've talked to my parents, but they didn't give me much. I'm 15 and I think it is still too early to think about that.

Question applies to ages: 15, 18

It's never too early or too late to start planning for college. As a high school freshman, you are in a good position to plan the next four years so that you are on a solid road to a college education. At this stage, you don't need to know what college you want to attend or what you want to study. What is important is that you have made going to college your goal.

Work with your guidance counselor to create a course plan that gives you strong, challenging academic courses. Look ahead to your junior and senior year and plan to take Advanced Placement courses to earn early college credit. Select two or three extra-curricular activities that you enjoy and that will give you the well-rounded character that college admissions officers are looking for.

Share these articles with your parents and discuss them together, and you will be well on your way to achieving your college goals.
