Letter to principal requesting to change teacher

He is in first grade and this is his first year in public school. He is very bright and loves school. I would like to request in writing to the principal for my child to have another teacher. He is in first grade. I've tried communicating with his teacher to no avail. I feel it would be in his best interest to be moved to another teacher.

Question applies to ages: 6

When my son was in first grade, we also had some difficulties with his teacher and contacted the principal to try to get him moved to another teacher. To make a long story short, the principal talked us out of it. I really wish we hadn't let him do that. We continued to have problems with that teacher for the rest of the year.

If you feel that your child would benefit from a new teacher, then stick to that decision. I agree with you that a formal letter is the way to go. You are usually required to have some kind of educational reason for why you want to move your child. It can't just be because you don't like the teacher. So, make sure you communicate in your letter how a new teacher would benefit your child, both emotionally and intellectually.

This sample letter of a parent requesting a specific teacher before the school year started will give an idea of what the letter should look like, even though your's are slightly different circumstances.
