avatarAnonymous Keep in mind that colleges want to find out what you're like, what you'll bring to their school, and how you'll benefit from attending. You can't avoid being personal if you're writing an essay that asks you to describe yourself: your experiences, your goals, obstacles you've overcome, successes you've experienced, and so on. If the essay topic focuses on why you think you're a good match for the school, be specific about your interests and academic and career goals and the programs the school offers that will help you meet these goals. For opinion essays, explain how experiences you've had helped you form your opinions. To sum up: be specific and cite examples from your own life to support your arguments. Hope this helps!
