When you're trying to find money for college, it's good to check out every possible resource. The guidance office at your high school can help you--they receive information on all kinds of scholarships and grants. The financial aid office at the college you plan to attend can give you information on the kinds of finanical aid they offer to students and how to apply for it. The federal government has financial aid in the forms of grants and loans. Websites like FastWeb allow you to set up a profile in order to find scholarships that match your abilities and interests.

But to get any of this financial aid, the most important step to take is completing the Free Application for Federal STudent Aid (FAFSA). Colleges and many scholarship programs require this document when determining your financial aid.

This EduGuide ShortCut provides some information on the FAFSA: Ace-the-FAFSA-2241 as does this article: FAFSA-Financial-Aid-for-School-215

You can also attend College Goal Sunday in February (see www.collegegoalsundayusa.org) for helping completing the FAFSA.
