I would suggest scheduling an appointment with your school's counselor or principal to see about having you child tested promptly. School districts are prepared to test students, or have them tested, for a variety of learning problems. If you're worried your child is dyslexic, the school should be able to help in a diagnosis and special training for him.

You might also want to check out the International Dyslexia Association at www.interdys.org. They have chapters throughout the U.S. so there may even be one near you that you can contact locally for testing, and support and guidance in how best to help your child.

There also appears to be many online sources for testing that charge for their online tests or to send you materials. Google the term, "dyslexia test" and you'll see a lot of those. I personally wouldn't go that route, since your school system should be able to help you.

You're being wise to address this early. Reading problems can prevent even the brightest child to fall behind, and you clearly care and are involved and don't want that to happen.

Good luck to you!
