What should I do to become a crime scene investigator?

I pretty sure this is what I want to do, but is this where the money is? And can you be successful in Jackson, Michigan?

Salaries for jobs in CSI depend on two things—the specific job you have as a member of a CSI unit, and what state you live in. These Web sites show that the salary range can go from $20-60,000 per year—they also have some great information on how to prepare for a career as a CSI:

In terms of being successful in Jackson, your best bet is to call Thomas Fleming and Debra Swihart at Jackson Community College. They are in charge of the Criminal Justice program at JCC, and local instructors are usually very well connected with the police and criminal justice communities. They should be able to give you some ideas about the job market in Jackson, and the classes JCC has to help you reach your goal. Here’s their Web site:
