Please help me; my 6 year old has tremendous anxiety at school and trouble making friends.

I really would like first to speak with other moms who have children with these difficulties. She is in grade 1 but not able to learn anything due to her anxiety. She is always happy to be home and begs not to go to school. She also has trouble making friends.

She is a smart, wonderful girl and she is good to her 4 year old brother. We lost my mother in law who she was very close to in September, so this was hard for her, too. And we moved 3 times this year, so there has been lots of instability in her life. I have discussed all this with her principal and school social worker; but I could really use some outside support.

Thank you so much.
Worried mother Denise

I think I may be able to help you with connecting with another mother who has a daughter with the same issue. Her daughter was invited to my daughter's birthday party a couple of weeks ago. She was so anxious about it that she didn't come. She is also in first grade. I spoke to her mother just now and she said that if you are interested in emailing her I could give you her email address. So please email me at jenny@eduguide.org and I'll give you her information.
