Michigan has two dental schools-- University of Michigan and University of Detroit-Mercy. There's a complete list of all the dental schools in the US on the Web page of the American Dental Association, www.ada.org

To apply to these schools, you first need to go to an undergraduate college that prepares you for dental school. Most dental schools want you to take many college courses in science and math before you apply; for a complete description on the process of applying to dental school, go to www.ada.org/public/careers/index.asp

There are also some colleges that allow you to apply for undergraduate school and dental school at the same time-- for most of these programs, that means you spend 1 or 2 fewer years in school.

Which one should you go to? Most dental schools are highly rated, and that includes the two in Michigan. As you check out dental schools, you'll want to find out where their graduates are working, and how many of their students pass the dental licensure exam the first time they take it. That will give you a good idea about the success of the school.
