Look at your surrounding environment and choose an object. Tell your toddler to be a detective and help you find something. Begin by describing the object. After giving a few clues have your toddler point to and name the object you are describing. For example, “I spy something that is round, red and can bounce.” Or, say “I spy a word on this cereal box that begins with f and rhymes with bakes.” If your toddler doesn’t know what you are describing, give a few more clues. Take turns and have him or her describe something to you.
