Parent Involvement in Education: Ask Teachers to Use Diversity/Social Strategies
Ask school leaders to make sure all teachers:
- Understand the impact of prejudice, bias and stereotyping
- Realize that unspoken prejudices are often demonstrated non-verbally
- Receive ongoing feedback and learn ways to eliminate behaviors that damage students
- Learn cultural traditions and practices, and identify individual learning styles strategies
- Use the talents and strengths of all students to expand their learning and achievement while teaching character
- Make the most of the social strategies and skills that children typically bring to the classroom and allow time and opportunity for all students to participate
- Look for ways to boost the participation of minorities, girls and students with disabilities in the classroom
