Did you know ...?

  • Nine out of 10 Americans believe after school programs are important for all children.
  • Yet millions of American children have no social or educational care available once the school bell rings.
  • This puts them at risk for getting poor grades, falling victim to crime and missing chances to learn and grow.

According to the After School Alliance, a coalition that works to promote quality after school activities for kids, these programs:

  • Keep kids safe
  • Help working families
  • Improve learning

The group is inviting parents who want the lights on for kids after school in their communities to join them in sounding a rallying cry for safe, stimulating after-school programs..

Every October, communities and after-school programs across the nation hold rallies to celebrate their programs and show how they’re keeping kids safe, helping working families and improving learning.
