The toddler years can be marked by toddlers' activities in which toddlers express strong feelings by screams of happiness and howls of despair. Most toddlers love their families deeply. But because toddlers don't have a range of language skills, they cannot always express how they feel in words. One toddler activity that can help them show love for their family is making greeting cards. Many mothers and grandmothers have these simple "love letters" stashed away among their toddler crafts and other keepstakes.
What You Need
Colored paper (pink, red, or white work well; or let your child choose a favorite color)
Red or black crayons or markers
Let's Go!
- Fold the white paper in half.
- Draw half of a heart shape against the fold on the paper.
- Cut along the line.
- Open the paper up to reveal a perfect heart-shape.
- Let your toddler scribble his love messages in red crayon all over the heart.
At this point, you might also choose to have your child tell you what she or he would like to say, and you can write it on the card. Remember to include the date, and let your child sign the card.
