He stopped me
With his words,
My four-year-old son.
Mom, he said,
I have a bee in my head.
Oh, I said,
What does it do up there?
Excited, cranking the air with his hand,
He said,
It runs a movie camera,
Shows me pictures
Of what I want to remember.
It does? I said.
Dishwater dripping from my fingertips,
My mouth hung open
And awe, a rose
Grew in my heart,
As I stopped to listen!
Has your child amazed you with her imagination? With an insightful observation? With a particularly brilliant explanation for why things happen? EduGuide invites you to write your own poem (maybe even improve writing skills) and add it as a comment to accompany this one by parent, Louise Mathewson.
